KY Houndsmen Beagle of the Year Rules

Participant Guidelines
⦁    Owner must have active membership in the Kentucky Houndsmen Association. 
⦁    Owner is responsible for signing hound in at each hunt before deadline.
How to Obtain Points
⦁    Participate in any or all of the five Houndsmen sponsored hunts. 
   Ky State Nationals (Feb 24th-25th, Hartford, KY)

⦁   Spring Nationals (March 10th-12th Hartford, KY)

⦁   Autism Hunt (March 24th-25th Elkhorn, KY)
⦁   Little World Hunt (October 26th-.29th, Russell Springs, KY)
⦁  Ky Houndsmen Benefit Hunt(December 8th-9th, Russell Springs,KY)
⦁    100 bonus points will be given to any dog that participates in all 5 sponsored hunts.
⦁    Hound will obtain the following points for placing in the top 10 of each class, at each hunt. 
⦁    1st- 200 points
⦁    2nd-190 points
⦁    3rd- 180 Points
⦁    4th- 170 Points
⦁    5th- 160 Points
⦁    6th- 150 Points
⦁    7th- 140 Points
⦁    8th- 130 Points
⦁    9th- 120 Points
⦁    10th- 110 Points

Winner
⦁    Kentucky Houndsmen  Beagle of the Year winner will receive  500 lbs of Showtime Dog Food and award that will be presented at the Kentucky Houndsmen Association Banquet in Lexington, KY. 


​​KY Houndsmen Youth Beagler of the Year Rules

Participant Guidelines
⦁    Youth must be 14-17 years of age as of January 1, 2017.
⦁    Youth must have active membership in the Kentucky Houndsmen Association. 
⦁    Youth is responsible for signing in at each hunt before deadline

How to Obtain Points
⦁    Participate in any or all of the four Houndsmen sponsored hunts. 
⦁    Spring Nationals (March 4-6th Greensburg, KY)
⦁    Ky State Nationals (March 25-26th, Hartford, KY)
⦁    Grand Nationals (October 7-9th, Russell Springs, KY)
⦁    Ky Houndsmen Benefit Hunt(December 9-10th, Russell Springs,KY)
⦁    Youth will obtain 20 points for every cast they help judge.
⦁    Youth will obtain 15 points per cast for handling a hound.
⦁    Youth will obtain 10 points per class for showing a hound in the bench show.
⦁    Youth will obtain 5 bonus points per hunt for helping in the general operations of the hunt.
⦁    50 bonus points will be given if youth attends all four sponsored hunts.


Winner
⦁    Kentucky Houndsmen Youth Beagler of the Year winner will receive a $500 college scholarship.
⦁    Scholarship will be held in the Kentucky Houndsmen Foundation until the youth is eligible for college.
⦁    Scholarship will be payable to the youth after a college acceptance letter is submitted to the Kentucky Houndsmen Association.

KHA Championship Series

Coonhound Series

Nite Hunt Champion – Show Dog Champion – Youth Hunt and Show Handler Champion

Points Program 

Points will be awarded when competing at Coonhound Events sponsored by the Kentucky Houndsmen Association throughout the year.  Owner and handler must be a member upon entry of their initial event to be eligible to gain points. Must compete in and complete a minimum of three separate events to be eligible for award.  Each day of a two day event are considered one separate event. Youth handlers must be age 17 or under as of September 6, 2014. Youth handlers may or may not compete with same hound throughout the series, those choosing to do so could possibly win youth handler as well as respective hound of the year.

Southern Kentucky Championship –  Green County CHC – Summersville, Ky.  - May 11th & 12th


KHA Benefit for Sportsmen’s Rights – Dix River CHC – Stanford, Ky. – July 20th & 21st

                                                                                 

Boots Henry Memorial / Ky State Youth Championship – Grant Co CHC, Crittenden, Ky.  - Sept. 8th                                                                 

Kentucky State Championship – Grant Co CHC – Crittenden, Ky. -  Sept 28th & 29th

*Points will be awarded for each night during two night events.

Coonhound Series Points System

10 points – Entry and successful completion of cast (withdrawn or scratch will result in 0 points)

50 points – Cast Win with plus points

30 points – First place overall (Overall placement is determined by plus points with CW)

25 points – Second place overall of all hounds without regard of titles (ie. Gr Nt Ch, Nt Ch, Reg.).

20 points – Third place overall

15 points – Fourth place overall

10 points – Fifth place overall

5 points – Sixth through Tenth place overall
(In case of tie – tie break will be decided by total plus points gained at events. ) 

Bench Show Coonhound of the Year / Youth Show Handler* of the Year Point System

10 points – Entry and successful completion

50 points - Best of Show (male and female)

50 points - Champion of Show (male and female)

50 points - Grand Champion of Show (male and female)

30 points – Overall Show winner     -     ( One overall in show and  opposite sex will be awarded on

20 points – Opposite Sex winner     -       the second day of two day events and at Youth Championship.)

*** 50 additional points awarded to any dog or youth handler competing in all seven events ***


* Youth Handler award is given to the highest point total of a Handler and Hound team.
